2025 ERUGC President's Am-Am
Friday 19th September, 2025
I would like to thank, my home club Beverley & East Riding Golf Club for allowing courtesy of the course and fellow members for foregoing their friday game to allow me to host my season ending President’s AMAM. The club have been very supportive throughout the year hosting many East Riding events.
Thank you to Theo and the Pros Shop crew for their help on the day. Also to Dave Jackson and his team for their help and hard work during a busy time for the club with the new greens construction work beginning straight after the weekend. The course and greens, as always, were in great condition.
Thank you to Alex, Liam, Julie and the whole clubhouse team at Beverley Golf Club for looking after us during the long warm day. And of course to the infamous friendly bovines who have managed to keep the rough down this summer as well as enjoying watching some excellent (and some not so excellent) golf!
The ordered weather arrived and a steady breeze provided a good challenge for the 140 players. A yellow tee AMAM with all four scores to count on the 8th and 18th (giving a par score of 80 points) - just to shake it up a bit!. The top 6 teams all totalled between 11 and 13 points on those two holes and with many other high scores this may have been decisive.
Thank you to all the East Riding clubs who have supported the Union this year and who have provided vouchers to play at - Brough, Filey, Hornsea, Hull, Scarborough North Cliff, Scarborough South Cliff.

1st 93 points, choosing a 4 ball voucher for Sandmoor Golf Club: S Mews, Dennis Thornham, Patrick Anderson & Mark Hazard from Brough Golf Club
2nd 92 points, choosing hotel vouchers with a 4 ball at both Scarborough NC & Scarborough SC: Jon Thorpe, Rob Dennis, Mike Drury & Andrew Stevens of Hessle Golf Club
3rd 91 points (on count back), winning hotel vouchers with a 4 ball at both Barnard Castle GC & Durham City GC: Robert Turner, Kieron Sycamore, Keith Laidlaw & Paul Anderson of Driffield and Hainsworth Park Golf Club
The next three prizes were divisional prizes for the best placed based on their overall combined team handicap
Division 1 winners - with 90 points winning a fourball at Filey Golf Club were - Val Mysko, Richard Smaje, Kevin Cadwaller and Kenton Wright of Cottingham Parks & Beverley & ER Golf Clubs
Division 2 winners - with 90 points winning a fourball at Brough Golf Club were - John Robinson, Neil Burnley, Carl Sheppard and Andrew Robinson of Beverley & ER Golf Club
Division 3 winners - with 91 points winning a fourball at Hull Golf Club were -Chris Woodcock, Stephen Thompson,, Richard Craven & James Waterland of Cave Castle Golf Club
Veterans team prize (combined age of 280+)
86 points - winning a fourball at Doncaster Town Moor GC are - David Wilson, Rob Abbotts, Richard Callis & Pete Newby of Cottingham Parks GC
Nearest the Pin - John Artymiuk of Ganstead Park Golf Club - won wine and a Jones cooler/practice bag (Thanks to Rob Bundy of Trendy Golf)
Longest Drive - Wayne Strutt (Guest) won a bottle of Whisky - kindly sponsored by Union Secretary John Illingworth.
Any prizes not handed out on the day will be forwarded to your club.

Finally, thank you to all the players and guests who supported the day and continue to support East Riding Union events. The money raised from Members Meetings and the Presidents AMAM is used to fund both the Men's and Junior Teams throughout the season as they represent your club, and the East Riding, playing leagues and championships against other unions in Yorkshire,
Oh, and I've also been reminded! - to thank Jacqui (my wife) who has supported me in so many ways thoughout this glorious golfing summer season.
The 2026 Members Meetings fixtures (open to all East Riding golf club members) will be published shortly to enter into your diary, as well as the 2026 Presidents AMAM to be hosted by 2026 President Alan Hutchinson of Cottingham Parks Golf Club.
