Lilly and Seth keep Hornsea top of Junior League

Hornsea tightened their grip at the top of the Junior League with a 4-2 home victory over a strong Cottingham side on a bright and breezy evening on the coast.

The visitors started strongly with in form Ewan Mackenzie taking out fellow ERUGC under 18s team member Alfred Anderson 6&5. With the Burns brothers playing at 2 and 3, Cottingham were looking to take over at the top of the league, but Seth Topham and Lilly Anderson (pictured above) had other ideas.

First Seth beat Warren 5&4 just before Lilly won the decider by shaking hands with Callum on the 13th green.

In the night's other fixture, Burstwick and Skidby were looking to push into the top two which the away team managed with a 4-2 victory.

Burstwick started strongly with Ethan Matthews beating George Coope on the 17th. However, Skidby rallied with Bobby Beasley and Alfie Slater winning 3&2 and 4&2 respectively to take them up to second in the table just ahead of near neighbours Cottingham.

Sadly the final fixture scheduled for the Westwood didn't take place as visitors Hessle were unable to raise a team. Beverley therefore took the full six points from the walkover which puts them back in touch of the top four. Hull had a bye week and will return to action next week against league leaders Hornsea.
