Harry's Game - Hull through to face Cottingham in final

Junior League semi-finals

As darkness descended over the 18th green, Hull's Harry Earl held his nerve to win his match against Hainsworth Park and send Hull's youngsters through to another Junior League final at Ganton. (Hull have won five out of the last six playings of this event.)

In form George Pepper (far right) led the team off with a consummate 4&3 victory over Tom Jimmeson (far left). Tom Hinks (3rd from right) then lost 2 down in a tight middle match to Harry Mayoh (3rd from left), leaving all eyes on Harry Earl (2nd from right) against Freddie Moore (2nd from left).

Harry was two down with five to play and things did not look good. But he won three holes in a row, including an outrageous 35 footer at the 16th for a two! An ugly four putt from the back apron of 17 allowed the Hainsworth youngster to once again level the match. However, Harry's immaculate par at the last from the right edge of the 12th fairway got the job done in rapidly fading light!

Hull will face Cottingham Parks who came through a tight semi-final against near neighbours Skidby Lakes. Cottingham's Cooper Beck edged a thriller against Jack Burt on the 18th green, Tom Anderson ended all square with Louis Brookes, but Harvey Marshall took his team to the final with a 4&3 victory over Elliot McLaughlin.

ERUGC Finals Day is at Ganton on Sunday 21st September - full details and tee times tbc.
