Champions begin winter work at Ganton

Champions begin winter work at Ganton

Despite having won the YIDU league title only two months ago, thoughts have already turned to defending the trophy in 2024 and pushing for another tilt at the six man team championship.

ERUGC Men's Team Manager Andy Lockwood invited five new faces to Ganton for the first training session of the winter. Cottingham's Scratch League winning team of Warren Burns, George Coope and Callum Burns returned to the scene of their incredible victory over favourites Hornsea along with clubmate Ewan Mackenzie and their ER under 18s skipper Luke Townhill. The call up to the senior squad was just reward for an outstanding season for all five youngsters - certainly a fifth of November to remember!

Despite recent rainfall which has seen many courses in the East Riding closed, Ganton once again proved the perfect venue with its superb practice facilities and well drained fairways and greens. Assistant Pro Ollie Adamson put the players through their paces on Trackman (pictured) and on the putting green, before the squad tuned their game in six 3 balls after lunch as the sun made a welcome appearance for a few hours.

Another session is planned for 10 December with two more in the New Year.
