Hull kept their hands on the Junior League Trophy by the narrowest of margins with a nail-biting win over Cottingham Parks in the Junior League final at the majestic Ganton Golf Club.
First to finish was the middle match coincidentally between the two Junior Captains - Tom Anderson of Cottingham and Tom Hinks (middle) of Hull. Anderson settled better and found the pace of the greens to run out a 6&5 winner.
The bottom match went the way of Hull as Harry Earl (right) led from the off against Harvey Marshall. Harry's length and accuracy off the tee proved decisive and he tied the final at 1-1 with an assured 5&4 win.
That left a large gallery following East Riding Junior Champion George Pepper (left) of Hull against the dangerous Cooper Beck. Cooper's punchy penetrating ball flight in the Ganton wind and assured short game looked to have done enough as he headed up the long 15th with a 2up lead and a shot at stroke index 2. However, a nervy three putt gave Pepper some hope and then Beck gifted the 16th to the Hull man. Pepper's pure 4 iron at the par 3 17th to 18 feet effectively squared the match and then a stunning hooky punch at the last from behind the left trees set up a two putt par for Hull to take their 6th title in 7 years.
