Gameweek 2 of the Junior League saw Beverley get their campaign going with an impressive win over current holders Hull.
After missing the opening week reverse at Burstwick last Monday, Will Bentley was out of the gates quickly under angry skies (literally and metaphorically above) and kept his nose in front of Bobby Beasley, winning 4&3. Archie Russell trotted up with a 3&1 victory over George Pepper, before the away team got a vital win courtesy of a convincing 7&6 Harry Earl win over Max Wilkinson.
In Group B's other match, Skidby sailed to the top of the standings with a 6-0 win at Burstwick. Jack Burt led the way with a 7&6 win over James Williamson. Louie Brookes and Lucas Wilson sealed the shutout with wins over Archie Bean and Jayden Bell respectively.
Skidby hold a four point lead over the other three teams who are locked together on 5 points each.
Group A is just as tight, with Brough the only team in the competition to have won both opening fixtures. They entertained a strong Cave Castle team and came out 4-2 winners. Tom Beetham beat Huxley Sawyer 3&2. Charlie Thompson finished his match against Tom Adcock on the same green, before Oscar Constantine 'ran into the wall' - Jack gaining two valuable points for the Cavemen.
At Cottingham, the points were shared, with Hainsworth Park taking the opening match by forfeit. The two other matches were the tightest of the evening anywhere with Cottingham's Tom Anderson prevailing on the last green against Harry Mayoh, before Harvey Marshall and Tom Jimmeson played out a half.
Brough lead the way with 8 points, but all teams are separated by just three points after two matches.
