In a repeat of the 2024 final, Hessle outlasted Hull in three tight matches between six of the Union's best players.
Aaron Brettell (above left) of Hessle beat Ben Rozenbroek 2&1 to get the first point on the board for the defending champions. In match 2 Charlie Milner of Hull threatened to level the tie against the evergreen Andy Lockwood (above right). fresh from his winning 4 under par at Normanton in last week's Yorkshire Seniors Division 2 Team Championship. However, missed opportunities at the last four holes meant that Hull could only manage a half, leaving 2024 ER Matchplay Champion Jon Samuel needing to win his match against another seasoned vet in Andy Woodhead (above centre).
Andy holed miles of putts and kept Samuel at bay and ran out a 2&1 winner and give Hessle the Scratch League shield for the 6th time in just 16 years.
